What We Are Looking For!
DISPATCHER
POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinate the utilization of drivers, trucks and containers to create capacity, maximize productivity and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to all customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assign loads to drivers based on designated routes and driver location
  • Prepare, update and dispense the daily route schedule
  • Gather and maintain route sheet documentation for pick-ups (scheduled, missed, extra pick ups), route completions and driver locations
  • Adjust dispatch plans and reallocate drivers as necessary to meet service needs (breakdowns, lateness, driver hours available, etc.)
  • Assist drivers with delivery orders, directions, instructions, mileage information.
  • Communicate with customers in a timely & effective manner
  • Research and resolve customer issues quickly and accurately
  • Ensure route completion via the driver check-in process
  • Monitor and utilize web-based applications, tools, and reports
  • Enter truck, driver, and load information to software and spreadsheets
  • Report driver performance issues or concerns to appropriate management for resolution
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year of dispatching in waste industry highly preferred
  • General understanding of Federal and State Regulations as it pertains to DOT
  • Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills
  • Ability to interact with difficult and demanding customers
  • Read, comprehend, and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents
  • Strong proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task using multi-line phone and computer
  • Ability to function as a team and get along with others
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
